Some agric projects slow –Govt
Agriculture and Livestock Minister Given Lubinda has expressed displeasure at the slow pace at which most of agricultural projects are implemented.
Mr LubindA says it is important for projects implementing partners to realizing that funds that are pumped in by various donors are extremely crucial to the development of the agricultural sector and can only be utilised through the projects.
He says it is very frustrating to see huge funds stack and many projects at a standstill because of various reasons including slow procurement procedures, and lack of commitment by the implementing agencies.
The Minster was speaking in Lusaka during the familiarization workshop of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) projects.
And IFAD Country Director Abla Benhammouche says procurement process is the biggest problem that leads to delayed implementation of most projects.
