NGOs registration extended
Government has extended the period for registration of Non-Governmental Organizations for another 90 days.
Community Development Mother and Child Health Minister Joseph Katema has announced the extension in a statement to ZNBC news.
Dr. Katema says all NGOs that will not register at the end of the 90 days shall cease to operate in Zambia.
He says those wishing to register a new NGO can proceed to do so starting from 15th July, 2013 as registration forms can be obtained from the Ministry’s department of registrar for NGOs.
Local NGOs will be required to pay a non-refundable application fee of 5-hundred and four kwacha while international NGOs will pay one thousand and eight kwacha.
Dr. Katema has stressed that the NGO Act does not apply to churches, clubs, political parties, professional groups or organizations, trade unions and religious organizations.
