We’ve plan for Landmine victims-Lungu
President Edgar Lungu has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other line Ministries to identity victims and survivors of landmines across the country.
Mr. Lungu says this is because Government is about to come up with a strategic plan to assist them.
The President said this in Ikeleng’i, North Western Province, on Thursday when he addressed a meeting for victims and survivors of landmines.
He says Zambia suffered the consequences of allowing refugees who were being followed by warring factions resulting in the planting of cluster munitions in some parts of the country.
Mr. Lungu is however, happy that Zambia has been declared landmines free after six provinces were cleared.
President Lungu has since thanked the international community for the support it has rendered to clear the cluster munitions.
Mr. Lungu says he is saddened by recent reports of Zambians dying from unexploded objects left during the war in Angola.
