Mozambique- Zambia confer
The 8th session of the Mozambique- Zambia Joint Permanent Commission on Defence and Security is underway in the resort Town of Bilene in Gaza Province.
Defence Permanent Secretary Rose Salukatula is leading a team of senior Zambian Defence, Public and State security officials to the three day meeting that opened this morning.
ZNBC’s Misheck Moyo reports that Mozambique’s Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Jeo Felo Joao challenged security experts attending the meeting to find new ways of enhancing and strengthening ties in areas of Defence and Security between the two countries.
General Joao observed that his country is happy with the levels of cooperation that exist between Mozambique and Zambia particularly in the areas of defence and security.
And Ms Salukatula urged experts to the Joint Permanent Commission to help find ways in addressing trans-national crimes.
Ms. Salukatula said there is also need to help address common problems affecting the two Nations such as cross border violations and wildlife offences.
Ms. Salukatula also wants experts to the JPC to find solutions in addressing money laundering, smuggling, drug and human trafficking.
She added that problems affecting Zambia and Mozambique have unfortunately continued to undermine the security of the two countries.
Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila and Defence Deputy Minister Christopher Mulenga are expected in Mozambique on Thursday.
