Mbala-Nakonde road on course
The Road Development Agency -RDA- says the tarring of the 180 million US Dollar Mbala – Nakonde road is on course.
RDA Northern Regional Manager George Manyrle says works on the 172 kilometer stretch which had partially stalled are now fully underway.
Mr. Manyele has disclosed this during a briefing at China Camc
Engineering Company camp in Mbala.
He has explained that the works should have started on 18th April 2011 and completed on 17th April 2014.
Mr. Manyele says the project will gain higher momentum following a recent visit to China by the President Michael Sata from where more funding is expected.
Twenty Seven Million US 27 Million US Dollars was earlier on released for the project financed under a loan facility from the Chinese Government.
Meanwhile, Northern Provincial Minister Obious Chisala is happy that the project has now been operationalized.
Mr. Chisala has urged Consultancy Bari Zambia and China Camc
Companies to work hard and increase the pace of construction.
The Minister directed the contractor to complete the project within the specified timeframe.
And China CAMC Engineering Company Administration Manager
Liu Guang assured the Minister that his company will construct a high quality road to be patronized by three camps.
Mr. Guang has added that works will be carried out from both
Mbala and Nakonde .
