Government raises more money
Government has raised and spent 15 point 4 billion kwacha between January and June 2013 in revenue.
Secretary to the Treasury Fredson Yamba says that the expenditure for the six months is equal to the revenues which were mobilized hence providing a balance in the budget.
Eleven billion kwacha was raised from domestic tax and non-tax revenue while 4 point 4 billion kwacha was raised from issuance of treasury bills and Government bonds.
Six hundred and 97 point 7 million was from foreign grants for both budget and project support.
Mr. Yamba notes that 15 point 4 billion kwacha was released for development programmes, social services as well as to facilitate Government operations in Ministries, Provinces and Spending Agencies.
He has added that the public service Micro- Finance Company and the public service Pension Fund also received some funds.
Mr. Yamba says the Treasury is confident that Government will be able to implement the 2013 Budget within the broad categories approved by Parliament and advised Ministries Provinces and Spending Agencies to work within adjusted budgetary provisions, authorized by the Treasury.
