And the National Council for Construction -NCC- says it will strictly monitor government construction projects awarded to foreign companies, to ensure local contractors benefit.
This follows President Edgar Lungu’s directive that all foreign companies, engaged in government infrastructure projects, sub-contract part of the works to local companies.
This is in order to build capacity in local companies, as well as empower them.
NCC Director, Charles Mushota says the council will monitor all government projects to ensure that the directive is adhered to.
Mr. Mushota says this is especially for projects on the Copperbelt, from where President Lungu issued the directive.
