Residents to be compensated
At least 1-thousand 7-hundred residents will be compensated for structures and properties that will be erased as the Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Project is implemented, under the Millennium Challenge Account -MCA.
MCA Zambia Outreach and Communications Director, John Kunda says the process of compensating the affected residents is underway.
Dr Kunda has explained that MCA Zambia will compensate the residents for their structures and properties, which includes ordinary and fruit trees, as well as makeshift structures.
Dr Kunda has explained that the compensation will be done in phases.
He has since appealed to the residents to co-operate with the contractors on the ground.
Dr Kunda was speaking during TV 2’s Morning Live programme on Monday.
Among the components of the project is upgrading of the main drainage structure from Bombay in Kamwala trading area, connecting to the Ngwerere stream in Mazyopa settlement.
The project will also include the expansion of the Kaunda Square township sewer ponds.
