Some NGOs disappoint VEEP
Vice President Guy Scott says he is disappointed that NGOs are causing commotion over the draft constitution.
Dr. Scott explained that there is no new constitution and that what has been leaked is just a Report on recommendations for the document.
The Vice President was responding to questions from teachers who wanted to find out what stage the new constitution had reached following the perceived impasse between Government and Civil Society Organisations.
On Thursday this week State House challenged the Technical Committee on Drafting the Constitution to come out clean on claims that the final draft constitution has been leaked and is circulating on online media.
State House said government has nothing to do with the purported Draft Constitution circulating among the members of the public as it is still waiting for the Technical Committee Drafting the Republican Constitution to hand over the final document.
But Technical Committee Drafting the Republican Constitution Spokesperson Ernest MWANSA says the committee does NOT know anything about the leaked Draft Constitution.
And Dr Scott has called for discipline in the rank and file of the Patriotic Front.
Speaking when he met party members in Chipata, Eastern Province on Saturday , Dr. SOTT urged PF members not to take advantage of belonging to the ruling party to be unruly.
Dr. Scott urged party members to respect the President and warned against any form of indiscipline in the party.
Earlier, Community Development, Mother and Child Health Deputy Minister Jean Kapata warned that the PF party might lose the forthcoming by-elections if members remain divided.
And PF Chairman for Eastern Province Lameck Mangani urged party members to STOP bickering and focus on the values of the party.
