Israel to open medical school in Zambia
Higher Education Minister, Dr Michael Kaingu
Israel’s Galilee International Institute will open a medical school in Zambia to increase the number of doctors being trained in Zambia.
Institute President, Joseph Shevel said the Medical school will be opened in Zambia in partnership with the University of Lusaka.
Dr. Shevel has explained that the medical school will be opened under the Private Public Partnership.
He has also disclosed that 200 scholarships have been reserved for Zambians to improve agriculture in Eastern province.
Dr. Shevel was speaking when Minister of Higher Education, Michael Kaingu visited the Institute in Galilee.
And Dr Kaingu said there is need for the Institute to make its presence in Zambia by opening a campus in Zambia.
Dr. Kaingu said 35 students from Lesotho will be coming to study medicine at CBU and that once Galilee establishes a centre in Zambia they will cater for the whole of the SADC region.
