Handball in K195 000 shortfall
The Handball Association of Zambia -HAZ- has a shortfall of 195 thousand kwacha required to successfully host the 2015 All Africa Games qualifiers next week.
HAZ president Bwalya Banda has told ZNBC Sports in Lusaka that his association has managed to raise one hundred and twenty thousand Kwacha, out of the 315 thousand kwacha needed.
And Banda has confirmed that 32 players will tomorrow go into residential camp to start preparations for the games.
He said the team has also received training kit from Japanese friends of handball worth 20 thousand kwacha.
Banda is hopeful that government will come to the aid of the association, which risks being fined by the Confederation of African Handball, if it fails to host the championship.
He said the National Sports Council has promised to pay the participation fee for the team.
Banda has also confirmed that participating countries will start arriving this weekend, with Angola scheduled to be the first to jet on Saturday.
Zambia is scheduled to host the All Africa Games Handball qualifiers from 9 to 14 March, 2015.
The All Africa Games are slated for Congo Brazaville in September.
