Poll date set
The Electoral Commission of Zambia has set November 19, 2009 as the date for the Solwezi Central parliamentary by-election.Three ward by-elections in the area will also be held on same day date.
ECZ Senior Public Relations Officer, Sylvia Bwalya, says aspiring candidates will file in their nomination papers on Thursday, October 29.
Ms. Bwalya said in a statement to ZNBC that successful candidates are supposed to start their campaigns on October 29.
The seat fell vacant following the death of area Member of Parliament Ben Tetamashimba who was also Local Government and Housing Minister.
