Crisis affects refugees
The global financial crisis has impacted negatively on refugees globally denying them of the most basic needs.United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Antonio Guterres says his organisation which cares for millions of refugess is grappling to provide their basic needs.
Mr. Guterres says although everything is being done to care for refugees, a study has shown that a startling number of refugees remain vulnerable.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said this in a statement to mark the world refugee day.
Mr. Guterres said in Cameroon, refugee children from Central African Republic suffer mortality rates seven times higher than the emergency levels.
He said in Georgia, people who have been internally displaced for 15 years, continue to live in squalid overcrowded camps.
He said with adequate resources many of the ills can be eliminated or minimized.
Mr. Guterres challenged the global society to remember the plight of refugees and make contributions to support them rebuild their lives.
