El Hadary appeals against ban
Sport's highest court has announced that it will hear an appeal by Egypt goalkeeper Essam El Hadary against a lengthy ban by Fifa.Fifa imposed a four-month ban on the goalkeeper for breaking his contract with his former club Al-Ahly.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport said it will also hear an appeal from El Hadary's current club, FC Sion.
The Swiss side were banned by Fifa from signing any new players until the end of the 2009-10 season.
Sion signed El Hadary last year before his deal with Ahly had expired, taking advantage of a contentious CAS ruling allowing players to buy out the remainder of their contracts.
Sion and El Hadary are also seeking to overturn Fifa's order that they pay US$1.3m in compensation to Ahly.
El Hadary shocked Ahly when he left for Europe shortly after Egypt's successful Nations Cup campaign in Ghana in February 2008.
He claimed Fifa regulations allowed him to make the switch.
