Contractors move on site
Two Chinese firms awarded contracts to tar the Mutanda-Chavuma road in North Western Province have moved on site.
The contractors who will work on different sections of the Mutanda-Chavuma road,have already set up their camps and mobilised the equipment.
The Mutanda-Chavuma Road has been divided into three sections, and two contracts have already been awarded to the Chinese firms while the Zambezi-Chavuma road is under tender.
China New Era International Engineering Corporation has been awarded a contract to work on the Kabompo- Mumbezhi road while China Geo Engineering Corporation will tar Mumbezhi-Zambezi road.
The Kabompo-Mumbezhi and the Mumbezhi-Zambezi roads are part of the Mutanda-Chavuma road.
And China Geo Engineering Corporation representative Jiang Chun told ZNBC news in an interview in ZAMBEZI District that his firm is confident of finishing the work within two years.
Mr. Jiang also said the firm will employ over two hundred locals to work with the Chinese nationals on the project.
The Kabombo-Mumbezhi road will be tarred at a cost of 93-billion kwacha while the Mumbezhi-Zambezi road will be tarred at a cost of 89 billion kwacha.
