Five nabbed for quarrying
The Lusaka City Council has arrested five people for illegal quarrying activities in LUSAKA's Chinika area.
The Local authority has also impounded six trucks one of which belongs to a Somalian national which were being used in the quarrying business.
Lusaka City Council Public Relations Manager Henry Kapata said that the five will appear in the fast truck court on Monday.
He said that government is concerned with illegal quarrying activities in Chinika area which has continued to impact negatively on the environment and ZESCO pylons in the area.
He said that the local authority will not hesitate to arrest and remove people that have continued to deal in illegal activities.
