Over One hundred and fifty million United States Dollars will be invested on Lake Tanganyika in Northern Province.
Northern Province Permanent Secretary Elias Kamanga says the investment follows pledges made during the Northern Province Expo.
Mr. Kamanga says among the investors is the Industrial Development Corporation -IDC- which plans to pump in about 100 million United States Dollars in four vessels and expansion of the port facilities.
He said this in Lusaka today when he met some investors who made pledges to invest in northern province.
And Mr. Kamanga has signed three letters of intent which amount to over 23 million United States Dollars.
Among the companies that have signed letters of intent is Cumana holdings limited which plans to invest 15 million Dollars over a period of six years to set up a ship building yard at Mpulungu port and operation of two cargo ships on Lake Tanganyika.
Another letter of intent signed is worth three million US dollars by White Orchid investment limited, and Horizon properties will invest 5 point 3 million US dollars over 5-year period.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kamanga said it is important that the pledges that have been made by various companies are actualized.
And, Mahogany Air Chief Executive Officer Jim Belemu who represented white orchid investment limited and Cumana holdings limited said the investments are planned to enhance the economy in northern province.
Meanwhile, Horizon Properties Chairperson Saul Kiwempindi said the company intends to invest in the tourism sector and develop a game ranch in Mporokoso once land acquisition is processed.
