Over four thousand cattle have been vaccinated against the Contagious Bovine Plural Pneumonia -CBPP – in Nakonde District – Muchinga Provide.
Both Nakonde District Commissioner Field Simwinga and Nakonde District Veterinary officer Harry Mundia confirmed to ZANIS in Nakonde.
Dr. Mundia said the Veterinary department was targeting 5,000 cattle in the entire District but have so far vaccinated 4,565 cattle.
He said his department is likely to exceed the targeted 5,000 cattle.
Dr Mundia however, said some farmers are resisting to have their animals vaccinated due to religious beliefs and lack of knowledge on the dangers of not having their creatures vaccinated against CBPP.
And Mr. Suimwinga has appealed to the farmers to accept the vaccine as this is a program by Government to help curb cattle diseases.
