The Livingstone Central Hospital Psychiatric Department says 75 percent of all metal cases reported at the hospital are alcohol related.
Head of Department, Consultant Wags Sheikh has told ZNBC News in Livingstone that the most affected age group is that of teenagers of ages fifteen and sixteen years both male and female.
Dr. Sheikh has noted that the hospital is also treating both teenagers and adults who have challenges of other substance abuse.
He said the department is working with cooperating partners like the African Shade who counsel the clients once they are released from the hospital.
And some Livingstone residents talked to on the matter have cited the abuse of marijuana and mental stress as the reason for increasing mental problems in the city.
