Commerce Minister Chistopher Yaluma has urged consumers to increase their consumer rights awareness and demand that these rights are respected and protected.
Mr. Yaluma says this is important as it will ensure that market abuses and injustices that tend to undermine consumer rights are not perpetrated.
The Minister said this in a speech read on his behalf by Director of Cooperatives Shadreck Mungalaba during this year’s World Consumer Rights Day in Lusaka today.
Mr. Yaluma said this year’s commemoration of Consumer Rights highlights the rights of consumers in the technology era and the importance of putting rights into consideration when developing digital products and services.
And Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency Acting Director Tito Kasanda has observed that there have been numerous complaints from consumers buying goods online about delayed or non-delivery of goods and poor quality.
This year’s World Consumer Rights Day Commemoration is being celebrated under the theme, “trusted smart products, ensuring financial inclusion for a better Zambia”.
