The Barotse Royal Establishment -BRE- has called for peaceful and violent free campaigns ahead of the February 12 Sesheke parliamentary by election.
Mwandi Royal Palace Acting Lyashimba Induna Omei says the traditional leadership in Mwandi wants campaigns to be focused on issues.
Induna Omei has appealed to political parties to respect the wishes of the Lozi royal establishment of upholding peace and respect.
He was speaking when Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo and Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya paid a courtesy call on him at the palace before meeting Senior Chief Inyamo Yeta of the Lozi people of Sesheke, Mwandi and Mulobezi.
And, Mr. Kampyongo assured the BRE of adequate security during the campaigns and election.
The Minister said he is in Mwandi district to ensure that the police command in the province prepare adequately for the bye-election.
Mr. Kampyongo said the police command in Mwandi has been provided with a brand new Toyota Land cruiser to help with transport to avert the transport challenges.
