Over 30 people have been injured after the bus they were on slipped off the road near the bridge at Lukupa River on the Kasama- Mporokoso road.
The accident happened around 06:30 hours this morning when driver of the bus belonging to Juldan Motors lost control as he tried to avoid a pot-hole.
This resulted in the bus, which was traveling from Mporokoso to Lusaka, falling-off the road.
The victims were rushed to St Fidelis Mission Hospital in Kasama’s Chilubula area where they are receiving treatment with four people nursing serious injuries.
Hospital Medical Officer In-charge Charity Chishimba says those that are critically injured will be referred to Kasama General Hospital.
Dr Chishimba says all the victims have undergone X-ray examination to determine the extent of injuries.
And Kasama District Commissioner Kelly Kashiwa who rushed to the accident scene described the development as unfortunate.
Mr Kashiwa said his office will engage the road development agency on how best the portion of the road can be worked on to prevent further accidents.
