Vice President Inonge Wina says will carry out an assessment to ascertain the extent of the damage on the cassava crop that has been reported in some provinces.
Speaking in Parliament, Ms. Wina says the assessment is what will determine the response, the causes of the disease and any relief that might be required to support families whose crop has been affected by the cassava disease.
The Vice President says the assessment will be extended to all provinces under attack among them Muchinga Province.
Ms. Wina was responding to questions for oral answer from Mwinilunga Samakayi who asked whether government is aware that residents of Mumpulumba area in the district are threatened with starvation due to an outbreak of a disease that is causing cassava to rot.
The questions were answered by Minister in the office of the Vice President Sylvia Chalikosa.
