Government has started constructing a cassava processing plant at a cost of 2 point 4 million dollars in Chitambo district.
Hua Shem Company has been constructed to do the work, which is expected to be completed in 6 months.
Central Province Permanent Secretary, Bernard Chomba disclosed this after touring the site.
ZANIS reports that so far, 23 local people have been employed at construction stage of the plant, which will also create 25 permanent job opportunities when it starts production.
And Chitambo District Agricultural Coordinating Officer, Katumwa Mutandi has revealed that the plant will have three production lines.
Meanwhile, Mr. Chomba said the intention of government is to ensure that the agricultural sector becomes a main economic stay of the country.
