Senior Chief Inyambo Yeta of the Lozi people in Mwandi District has ventured into fish farming.
The senior chief this morning stocked six thousand fingerings in the pond at his palace.
And Induna Omei says the decision by Senior Chief Yeta is to demonstrate and encourage his subjects to diversify their farming activities in view of the impact of climate change.
Induna Omei says the chief wants his subjects to learn from him by engaging into farming activities which are resistant to the impact of climate change instead of concentrating on growing maize which is prone to dry spells and drought as it is now.
He has also appealed to the youth to take up activities which will sustain their lives instead of vices like beer drinking daily.
Meanwhile Mwandi District Commissioner Precious Muyenga says what the senior chief is doing is in line with President Edgar Lungu’s call for people to engage in fish farming which the head of state has already demonstrated.
