The Chipolopolo boys got down to business ahead of the Four Nations tournament to be staged in Ndola .
Coach Wedson Nyirenda’s local assemblage is temporally without Nkana, Zanaco and Zesco United players who have not turned up on account of continental commitments over the weekend.
Zambia will host a Four Nations tournament from March 22-25 that will involve Angola, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Nyirenda told FAZfootball.com after the team work out at Edwin Imboela Stadium that foreign based players will join camp 48 hours before the tournament kicks off as per FIFA requirement.
The tournament is being held during the FIFA window that commences on March 19 to 27th of the same month.
Nyirenda has named a 30 member local assemblage to commence preparations for the tournament that is being used as part of preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers that have been pushed to September.
“The Four Nations tournament is very important, we are always in the process of consolidating the team that we have already built. I think this (camp) helps in identifying the new players, giving them game time,” he said.
“It will give us a lot of good time to see how they are (local players) and even how they can mingle with those that are already in the team and have been with the team for some time. So it gives the coaches a bigger picture to see who is who.”
Zambia will play Zimbabwe in the opening match while South Africa will be up against Angola on March 22 with the winners in both matches facing each other on March 25.
The losing sides will play each other for the third and fourth play offs as Cosafa teams hope to stand up for each other in ahead of the next round of Africa of Nations qualifiers.
Nyirenda was being assisted by physical trainer Chintu Kampamba and goalkeeper coach Stephen Mwansa while Beston Chambeshi is with his club Nkana where they are preparing for the CAF Confederation Cup tied against CR Belouizdad.
Qualifiers for the Cameroun 2019 Africa of Nations have been pushed to November with African teams heading to the FIFA World Cup in Russia having asked CAF to give enough window to prepare for the tournament.
