He was speaking when he officially opened the first meeting of Migration Dialogue for COMESA member states in Lusaka.
And International Organization for Migration Regional Director for Southern Africa, Charles Kwenin described the meeting as an important step for COMESA member states to join other regions with established Regional Consultative Processes.
Mr. Kwenin said the dialogue has a lot to provide in terms of creating a platform to discuss challenges and opportunities related to migration.
Meanwhile, COMESA Assistant Secretary General, Kipyego Cheluget noted that there is urgent need to encourage more cooperation and less border controls to facilitate the free movement of bona fide persons within the region.
