Former Church of God Overseer, John Mambo and another Clergyman Daniel Mwale have been convicted and fined for Contempt of Court.
The Supreme Court has fined Bishop Mambo, 25 Thousand kwacha while Reverend Mwale has been ordered to pay a fine of 20 Thousand Kwacha.
The court has given Bishop Mambo and Reverend Mwale, a seven-day ultimatum to pay the fine or face nine months imprisonment.
Supreme Court Judge Gregory Phiri, sitting with four other Supreme Court judges rendered the judgement.
The four other Supreme Court judges were Evans Hamaundu, Rhoda Kaoma, Mumba Malila and Nigel Mutuna.
Bishop Mambo was charged with contempt of Court following his letter to Chief Justice Irene Mambilima and the Judicial Complaints Commission in which he raised corruption allegations against the judges of Zambia’s Judiciary.
He made the corruption allegations following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the judgment in the Savenda Limited verses Stanbic Bank Case.
Meanwhile, Reverend Mwale was cited for Contempt of Court on account of disparaging remarks against the judiciary concerning the litigation of his case over properties.
