Mansa Central Member of Parliament Chitalu Chilufya has assured Chief Matanda of the Ushi speaking people of Mansa that farming inputs will in the next few days be distributed to farmers in his chiefdom.
Dr. Chilufya says the inputs are at Mansa Boma waiting for distribution to farmers.
Dr. Chilufya, who is also Minister of Health, was responding to complaints by Chief Matanda on late distribution of ‘D’ Compound fertilizer to farmers in his area.
This was when he and Luapula province minister Nixon Chilangwa paid a courtesy call on the traditional leader and addressed the people in the constituency.
And Dr. Chilufya said the Mansa. Matanda road will be graded-by the Zambia National Service working together with Mansa District Council while waiting for the contractor China Geo to start works on the road.
The Member of Parliament also assured the people of Matanda that schools and clinics will be built in several areas using part of the Constituency Development Funds -CDF.
During the same meeting, Dr. Chilufya apologised for having not visited some areas in the constituency in 2018 due to tight programmes but promised to visit more this year.
Meanwhile, the Luapula Province Minister said he is hopeful that Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo will revisit talks on border operations at Kashiba after elections are over.
Mr. Chilangwa also explained that talks on opening Matanda border may also resume between the two government after the elections.
He was responding to Chibeleka ward councilor Joseph Muzila who made an appeal to the Minister that Matanda border between Zambia and Congo be opened to help the farmers in the area sell their produce to the DRC.
