ECL spearheads HIV/AIDS fight



The Ministry of Health says President Edgar Lungu has shown the highest level of commitment in the fight against HIV and AIDS.


Ministry of Health Director of Public Health Andrew Silumesi says this can been seen by his declaration for Universal Routine testing which has started bearing fruits.


He says it is good that the levels of stigma and infection have continued to reduce in Zambia.


Dr. Silumesi says Zambia is likely to continue recording strides in the area of HIV and AID because of the political will from those in high offices.


He was speaking during the award ceremony organized by the Resident Doctors Association of Zambia which was meant to honor people that have contributed to the fight against HIV and AIDs.


Speaking at the same function Resident Doctors Association of Zambia President Alinani Silwamba said doctors will continue helping government to fight the disease.


Dr. Silwamba said Zambia has made progress in fighting the disease in the last fifteen years.


Among those who were awarded Kembe Member of Parliament Princess Kasune who got the role model award while late Winstone Zulu was awarded in the positive living award.
