Forum for Democracy and Development – FDD – is happy that farmers in Chama district of Muchinga province, have started receiving their payments from the Food Reserve Agency.
This is for the maize they supplied to the agency during the 2018 maize marketing season.
FDD Chairperson for Labour, Yotam Mutayachalo told ZNBC News in a statement that the party is hopeful that the delayed payments will not affect food security in the district.
Mr Mutayachalo has also appealed the government to plan adequately for the 2019/2020 farming season.
And Mr Mutayachalo is worried that the poor rainfall pattern is some areas of the district might affect food security.
He has since called on the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- to put in place logistical measures and make sure that relief food is distributed in advance.
