President Edgar Lungu has declared Friday, March 9th 2018 a public holiday.
The declaration is in commemoration of the international Women’s Day which falls on Thursday 8th March, 2018 and the Youth Day on Monday 12th March 2018.
Secretary to the cabinet Rolland Msiska has confirmed the development to ZNBC news in a statement today.
Dr Msiska said as the rest of the world celebrates women’s day government is appealing to members of the public to reflect on the theme for this year by enhancing the lives women in rural areas.
He said government is also urging the youth to leverage on the opportunities being created in various sectors of the economy in line with the theme for the 2018 youth day celebrations.
And Minister of Information and Chief government spokesperson Dora Siliya has confirmed that Thursday, 8th March, 2018 and Monday, 12th March, 2018 will also be public holidays.
Ms. Siliya says this is by virtue of the two days being International Women’s Day, and Youth Day, respectively.
Ms. Siliya said this in a statement released to ZNBC News in Lusaka.
