A 30-member delegation of Finnish private company officials are in the country to explore possibilities of engaging government and the livestock subsector to increase the production and export of goats to Saudi Arabia.
Delegation leader Jukka Lahteenkorva of Food Know says Finland has both the knowledge and the technology to improve the goat production value chain in Zambia.
He told ZNBC news in an interview that the once the engagement takes place the first thing would be to identify challenges and map out a plan to ensure that Zambia produces one million goats per year as required by the Saudi Arabia.
And Elisabet Kivimaki who organised the visit to Zambia said the delegation is going to have engagements with government officials and also visit some farmers who produce goats.
She said the companies will also be at the Agritech Expo in Chisamba.
Zambia has a goat export project with Saudi Arabia which needs one million goats per annum from Zambia.
