Ministry of water development Permanent Secretary Ed Chomba says Government is putting in place various initiatives that address environmental challenges.
Bishop Chomba says among the projects implemented to address climate change is the scaling up of the implementation of renewable energies and plant a million trees to protect the environment.
He says Government enacted the Extended Producer Responsibility -EPR- Regulation which controls and bans the manufacturing and distribution of plastic carrier bags that are less than 30 microns in thickness.
Bishop Chomba was speaking during the 4th Session of the UN Environment Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya.
He also said Government has also passed the Solid Waste Management Act No. 20 as an innovative strategy to promote investment in solid waste management.
Bishop Chomba said this in a statement issued to ZNBC News in Lusaka.
