Government has advised farmers in Kalulushi District to venture into livestock farming.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Kampamba Chewe says livestock farming is lucrative and can boost the country’s food security.
Mrs. Chewe who is also Kalulushi Member of Parliament says Zambia has a ready market for Livestock and Livestock products.
The Minister was speaking at the official launch of the small holder livestock re-stocking program in Kalulushi where she handed over cattle to farmers in the area.
And Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Bright Nundwe advised farmers receiving cattle under the program not to sell the livestock.
Meanwhile, Chieftainess Shimukunami of the Lamba speaking people said the re-stocking program will help eradicate poverty in her chiefdom.
