Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Lawrence Sichalwe says government will not neglect the elderly in society.
Mr. Sichalwe says this is why government has continued funding programmes like the Social Cash Transfer to help the vulnerable in society.
The minister, who is also Chawama Member of parliament, says society should not discriminate against the elderly in the communities.
Mr. Sichalwe said this when he visited over seventy elderly people in his Constituency.
During the visit Mr. Sichalwe donated assorted food items, wheel chairs and clutches to the elderly.
He urged families and community members to register the elderly with the Ministry of Community development so that they can benefit from government programs.
And one of the beneficiaries Mary Daka thanked Mr. Sichalwe for the gesture, saying his visit shows that government has not forgotten the aged in society.
