Government in partnership with the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union has launched the Good Financial Governance Programme.
German Ambassador to Zambia, Achim Burkart says the objective of the programme is to strengthen good financial governance in Zambia in terms of transparency, accountability, efficiency and responsiveness to citizen needs.
Speaking during the event in Lusaka, Mr. Burkart noted that it is important for any government to have good financial governance.
And Secretary to the Treasury, Fredson Yamba said all reforms in public financial management ultimately target improved service delivery.
Mr. Yamba stated that this is in order to facilitate national development as envisioned in the Vision 2030 and the 7th National Development Plan.
The Secretary to the Treasury said this in a speech read on his behalf by the Controller of Internal Audit at the Ministry of Finance, Joyce Sundano.
The Ministry of Defence has signed a Memorandum of Understanding -MoU- with PRASAD Seed Company of India, for establishment of a joint seed production plant in Zambia.
Defence Permanent Secretary, Stardy Mwale has signed for Zambia, saying government has tasked his ministry to get involved in agriculture production.
And PRASAD Seed Managing Director, Prasad Karumanchi has said the company intends to make Zambia a regional hub for seed production and export.
