Government has written to UNESCO regarding the resumption of negotiations with the United Kingdom over the Broken Hill skull.
Ministry of Tourism Permanent Secretary Howard Sikwela says the government has asked UNESCO to bring the two parties to the negotiating table as part of the effort to reclaim the skull.
Dr Sikwela says government is optimistic of successfully getting the skull back to its place of origin.
And Dr Sikwela has told ZNBC news that government is investigating reports that even the Mupundu tree under which Dr David Livingstone’s intestines and heart were buried was taken away.
He said if the reports prove to be true government will add to the list of the bid to reclaim the artefact as well.
Dr Sikwela was speaking when he toured the David Livingstone Memorial Site in Chitambo district.
Dr Livingstone was a Scottish who died in Zambia in the late 1800s.
