Honour your pledges- ZBF

The Zambia Boxing Federation -ZBF- has called on business houses who pledged to sponsor two female boxers for the Women’s Youth Championship scheduled for Guhahati India to honour their pledges.

ZBF Secretary General Bright Chomba says flyweight Alice Mbewe and flyweight Margaret Tembo will represent the country at the tournament.

Chomba says the event is also a women youth Olympics qualifier.

He says the boxers were supposed to be in camp earlier but only got into camp on Sunday as they are slated to depart for the tournament on Thursday November 16th.

Chomba says the delay was due to lack of funds and the uncertainty surrounding the camping venue.

He was speaking in an interview with ZNBC Sports News in Lusaka.

And National Boxing team coach Richard Banda said the boxers are ready to represent the country at the tournament despite getting into camp late.

Banda said the girls have been active in local tournaments and the training will only involve final touches.

The tournament is scheduled to run from November 17th to 26th.
