Chief Chisunka of the Ushi people of Mansa district says Agro Pro Africa Mansa, the company which will invest in his chiefdom, is poised to create over 2 000 jobs for the local people.
ZANIS reports that the chief said the company which will be producing starch from cassava will officially start operating in April 2018.
Chief Chisunka explained that all the paper work has been finalized and what is now being waited for is the rains season to end so that operations can start.
He said the cassava processing industry will be the first of its kind to be put up in the area and the community is expected to accrue a number of benefits from it.
The Chief said apart from creating jobs for the local people, the plant will also give the market to cassava farmers in addition to having a health centre and secondary school constructed in the area.
Meanwhile, the Chief has thanked government for the ongoing works at Musonda Falls hydro power station in his chiefdom.
