Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Hidenobu Sobashima says it is through the diversification and implementation of strong agriculture polices that Zambia will achieve the Vision 2030 of becoming a prosperous and middle-income nation.
The Ambassador who is in Luapula Province to inspect various projects under Technical Cooperation Project on Community based Smallholder irrigation -T-COBSI, said this when he called on Acting Luapula province Permanent Secretary Lloyd Chakaba at his office.
Mr. Sobashima stressed the importance of the agriculture sector in Zambia saying it has the potential to alleviate poverty among the citizens, especially in rural areas.
And Mr. Chakaba thanked the Japanese government for introducing the T-COBSI project in the province.
He said since its inception the project has helped address key issues that were affecting small scale farmers in eight districts.
