Government will next month start the construction of a 2 million United States Dollar Medical Store hub in Kabompo to ease the distribution of drugs in north western Province.
Health Minister, Chitalu Chilufya says Kabompo is centrally located and that districts far from Solwezi will now start getting their medicines from Kabompo District.
Dr Chilufya was speaking when he toured a temporary medical hub in Kabompo this morning.
He said a provisional building has been found and will be operational next month.
Dr Chilufya said government has declared zero tolerance to drug shortages hence decentralizing medical stores.
And Kabompo Medical Stores Hub Manager Roosevelt Kyanamina said six vehicles have since been dispatched to Kabompo, for the distribution of drugs to start.
Meanwhile, the Minister has also announced that Kabompo General Hospital will next year be upgraded to Central Hospital.
And the Catholic Church in north western Province has praised government for improved medical services in the country.
Saint Daniel Cathedral Parish Administrator Father Daniel Maungani said the church has noted the massive improvements taking place in the country.
This was when Dr Chilufya attended mass at the church in Solwezi this morning.
