Campaigns have closed in the Kasenengwa by-election in Eastern Province with all parties participating expressing confidence of scooping the seat.
Three parties, the PF, UPPZ and PAC are contesting the seat that fell vacant after the death of area Member of Parliament Victoria Kalima who was also Minister of Gender.
Earlier, Patriotic Front Campaign Manager Vincent Mwale and Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa who are in Kasenengwa to drum up support for PF candidate Sensio Banda, concluded their campaign by paying a courtesy call on Senior Chief Nzamane and Mdzimawe of Kasenengwa District.
Senior Chief Nzamane and Senior Chief Mdzimawe assured the Ministers of their support.
The Traditional Leaders urged the candidate to immediately begin to address the challenges faced by the people in their chiefdoms such as poor roads and lack of boreholes.
Meanwhile, The People’s Alliance for Change-PAC- candidate John Zulu said he will scoop the seat because his campaign message has been well received by the people in the area.
Mr. Zulu says PAC has become the favourite party for the people in Kasenengwa and that he will become the first Member of Parliament to represent his party in parliament.
Meanwhile United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia -UPPZ-Candidate Abel Ngwenya has urged the people in Kasenengwa to turn out in large numbers and vote wisely tomorrow.
Mr. Ngwenya has also promised to work with the people when voted as area MP.
