Mandevu Member of Parliament, Jean Kapata has called on the National Sports Council of Zambia to target the community, as source of talent which can be nurtured at national level.
Kapata notes that most communities have the potential to produce players that can play at national level in various sports disciplines.
She said this during the final of the 2017/2018 Off-Season Sports tournament in Lusaka’s Ng’ombe Township.
Kapata who is also Minister of Lands says community sports is vital in making most youths productive and prevent them from engaging in illicit activities.
And speaking earlier, Ng’ombe Sector Sports for All Chairperson, Watson Phiri said lack of sponsorship and equipment has limited his organization from hosting other sporting disciplines.
Phiri however commended the area member of Parliament for supporting the tournament.
