Government has upgraded Kayambi Mission Health Centre in Mungwi District to a first level hospital.
Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya announced the development in Mungwi during a ground-breaking ceremony for the new hospital.
Dr Chilufya said upgrading the infrastructure at the health facility will allow for provision of advanced medical services such as Theatre, X-ray and additional wards.
He disclosed that the ministry of health will also deploy more medical personnel to the hospital.
Kayambi Mission, which is situated about 1-hundred and 70 kilometres from Mungwi boma, caters for a population of over 20 thousand people.
And Chief Makasa of the Bemba speaking people of Mungwi District in Northern province, has urged government to focus on developing the country and not play to the political gallery.
The Chief says government should ignore unnecessary criticisms bent on delaying progress but focus on fulfilling people’s aspirations.
Chief Makasa said this today when Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya paid a courtesy call on him.
He said government should stay focused and ensure all campaign promises are fulfilled.
The traditional leader commended government for the upgrade and donation of two ambulances.
Dr. Chilufya said under the stewardship of President Edgar Lungu, Government will ensure it attains Universal Health Coverage.
