Government says the construction and successful completion of the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport will make Zambia an economic hub in central Africa.
Minister of Infrastructure Development Ronald Chitotela said in a statement to Parliament that the overall work progress at the airport is at 64 percent with specific percentages in different points of the construction.
The minister said despite the variations on the performance of the Kwacha, the contract sum of the project still remains the same at 360 million United States dollars.
And responding to a follow up question from Bwanamukubwa Member of Parliament Jonas Chanda who wanted to find out if government had any plans to upgrade the road leading to the airport.
Mr. Chitotela disclosed that the construction of a dual carriage way Airport road will commence next year.
