Government says there is need to direct efforts towards transforming Zambia into a Socio-Economic power house in the region.
Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development Ronald Chitotela says this will entail tapping into development cooperation modalities and building on previous socio-economic achievements.
Mr Chitotela says this will also call for effective utilisation of Zambia’s Comparative advantage.
He was speaking at the Zambia China infrastructure development cooperation joint Seminar between the Policy Monitoring and Research Centre and the Chinese embassy in Lusaka this morning,
Mr Chitotela said Government is committed to working with all stakeholders that seek to invest in the Zambian economy.
And Minister of Commerce Margaret Mwanakatwe said effective trade depends on road infrastructure that connects source to market.
Mrs. Mwanakatwe said infrastructure is a foundation for commerce trade and industry.
She said active participation is important towards infrastructure development and will contribute significantly to the socio economic growth of the country.
Meanwhile Chinese Ambassador Yang Youming said infrastructure is a foundation for any country’s modernization drive.
And Trade Expert Trevor Simumba said Zambia and Africa as a whole need to be more strategic in dealing with China in order to tap into the Chinese economy.
