Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa has cautioned schools in the Province to develop a culture of repairing their broken furniture.
Speaking when he addressed teachers at various schools in Kawambwa Central Constituency, Mr. Chilangwa took a swipe at schools that are failing to fix classroom furniture but asking for money from government.
Mr. Chilangwa who is also Kawambwa Central Constituency Member of Parliament warned that he will not take kindly to negligence in maintaining classroom desks by schools.
He said it is disappointing to see schools piling up broken classroom tables and chairs without a programme of fixing them.
The Minister wondered why schools are asking for more desks when they have failed to maintain old ones.
Mr. Chilangwa called for the strengthening of preventive maintenance in all schools in the Province to avert high levels of damage to furniture.
