Malawi has thanked Zambia for the donation of assorted items to victims of Cyclone Idai.
Malawian Minister of Homeland Security and Disaster Management Affairs Nicholas Dausi says the people of Malawi are grateful to President Edgar Lungu for facilitating the donation of assorted items to the victims.
Mr. Dausi says the donated items will help more than 82 thousand people that have been displaced by the Cyclone.
Mr. Dausi was speaking when he received a consignment of assorted goods for the victims of cyclone Idai from Minister in the Office of the Vice President Sylvia Chalikosa in Lilongwe.
And Mrs. Chalikosa said President Lungu was responding to the call by his Malawian counterpart Peter Mutharika to help the victims.
She said Zambia sympathizes with the victims and hoped the donation will help the displaced start a new life.
Mrs. Chalikosa said the donated items are worth more than 500-Thousand United States dollars.
