Construction of 58 more houses for Officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs in Serenje district will commence soon.
The houses which will be shared between Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) and Correctional Services Officers are part of the 2-THOUSAND 3-HUNDRED AND FIFTY housing units government is building countrywide for officers from the Home Affairs department at the cost of 3-hundred and 20 Million US dollars.
A check by ZANIS found the contractor Avic International on site mobilising materials and setting out the structures in preparation to start digging foundation trenches.
And Avic International Interpreter, Wang Pengliang said the project which started this month will end in July next year.
Meanwhile, Serenje District Commissioner (DC), Francis Kalipenta said the construction of the houses is a clear demonstration of government’s commitment to improve housing infrastructure for its workers.
The construction of the houses brings the total number of houses government is constructing for Home Affairs Officers in the district to 168.
